The election results are almost in, and with just a fraction of a percentage to go, our nerves are shot. An evening in, enjoying the Sunday movie at 20:00 on M-Net, might just what we need after this. Traffik stars Paula Patton.

The 2018 thriller is directed by Deon Taylor. It follows a group of friends being terrorised by a biker gang. If, however, this isn’t the type of film that tickles your fancy, there are also new releases on Netflix and Showmax.

Traffik Plot

Brea and John embark on a romantic weekend getaway to an isolated estate in the mountains. Everyone needs a break from the daily grind every once in a while.

Two of their friends, Darren and Malia, also surprise them by showing up unexpectedly. Their plans for fun soon give way to terror when members of a violent biker gang invade the peaceful countryside.

Banded together, they now find themselves in a fight for their lives as their assailants will stop at nothing to protect their secrets from the outside world.

Critics’ reviews

Critics feel that the movie was on the right track but somehow lost its way. Jeffrey M Anderson from Common Sense Media said “it had good intentions,” but added:

“This movie is ultimately ineffectual, unpleasant, and borderline offensive; it’s a vicious thriller that fails in its attempts to convey serious messages.”

In addition, Paul Asay from Plugged In said it “had an important destination in mind. But, fittingly to its title, it gets seriously stuck along the way”. That said, if it is action you want, then Traffik will deliver.
