A memorial service is expected to be held for Enock Mpianzi at Parktown Boys’ High School in Johannesburg on Tuesday.
Thirteen-year-old Mpianzi lost his life during a school camp at Nyati Bush and River Break Lodge in the North West about two weeks ago.
He disappeared when a makeshift raft he and other boys were on overturned on the Crocodile River.
Teachers at the school have been accused of neglect as the public pushes for answers.
Mpianzi’s peers are expected to gather to pay tribute to him in a memorial at the school.
Since his passing, some learners have given harrowing accounts of the circumstances surrounding Mpianzi’s death.
Last week, Gauteng Education MEC said an independent investigation had been appointed to investigate the matter.
During the course of the investigations, it also emerged that over the past ten years, three children, including Mpianzi have drowned at the facility and that the trip was illegal.
The Grade eight learner’s death has shone the spotlight on the schools alleged code of silence, leading to growing calls for transparency.
The school principal, Malcolm Williams has since been suspended.
Lesufi is expected to attend the memorial.
