DStv: Three movie channels ‘made available’ to non-Premium subscribers

Looking for something to do this weekend? DStv has launched its new ‘Add Movies’ offer, allowing subscribers on a ‘smaller package’ to bulk-up their available options. In total, three dedicated film channels can be added to Compact Plus, Compact, Family, and Access bouquets – for a nominal fee.

DStv: What channels are on the Add Movies package?

For R99 a month, DStv will allow non-Premium customers renewable access to the following outlets:

  • M-Net Movies 1 (DStv Channel 104) delivers family-friendly animation, comedy, romance, and award-winning drama.
  • M-Net Movies 2 (DStv Channel 106) provides the latest adrenaline-packed action, sci-fi, fantasy, and thrillers.
  • FliekNET (DStv Channel 149) has become a permanent fixture, showcasing locally produced blockbuster films, classic favourites, and a variety of Afrikaans productions. FliekNET will also feature new straight-to kykNET films – made by South African filmmakers.
  • Hollywood blockbusters Terminator Dark Fate, Rambo Last Blood, and Playing with Fire have been added to the service in October.

Yolisa Phahle, CEO of General Entertainment and Connected Video at MultiChoice, confirmed earlier in the day that customers will have the option to renew their access to these channels at the end of each month:

“The offering gives subscribers more choice and control to structure their entertainment needs, including the flexibility to add this service from month-to-month. It remains our priority to give customers both choice and value. Add Movies firmly delivers on both scores, with a wide variety of quality movie content at a compelling price.”

Non-Premium subscribers: How to get an Add Movies package

So, how can customers get this new package? There are three ways to bring the cinema to your lounge. Either contact the DStv Self-Service WhatsApp on 060 060 3788, or choose the ‘Add Movies’ option when using the MyDStv App. Alternatively, you can upgrade your service via the website – www.dstv.co.za.

This offer gives South Africans a cheaper alternative to upgrading to a full DStv package. With hundreds of titles on offer across the three channels, it seems like there will be plenty more ‘film nights’ across Mzansi in the weeks to come.
