Episode 3

We are halfway through this documentary and things are finally going in the right direction for the Springboks. Their incredible 2018 victory in Wellington gives them the boost they needed before entering the World Cup pool stages. New captain, Siya Kolisi, is the right leader at the right time and things are beginning to change. But, as we know, the first-stage game against New Zealand is a diabolical loss. We’ll see an important moment for the team as they learn to band together and keep going.

“There were so many highs and lows on the way to the World Cup – and we are really seeing every aspect of this journey,” says Thabisa Mkhwanazi, Executive Head for Marketing at Multichoice. “It is interesting to experience those low points knowing what they were about to achieve.”

Chasing the Sun shares a detailed view of an important moment in South African history using a sporting moment to highlight the unity of the country. The six-part documentary series shares awe-inspiring interviews from the players and experts as they lived the events. Viewers will also get an all-access pass to footage filmed during the three-year-period. If you’re ready to relive the magic from the beginning, it’s available on Catch Up, too.
