The South African Weather Service has issued an alert about expected heavy rainfall and thundershowers across KwaZulu-Natal throughout the weekend.
Forecaster Julius Mahlangu has warned residents especially those who live near riverbanks not to cross full rivers.
Mahlangu warned that people should, if possible, remain indoors until the beginning of next week.
He says areas on the south and north coast will be the most affected
He says 80% chances of showers and thundershowers are expected.
He says, “We got an alert to watch for heavy rains along coastal areas especially on the south coast of KZN and Ilembe, KwaDukuza and Ndwedwe. We advise people to be careful in those areas, especially in the evening into Saturday morning. Saturday it will be 30% and Monday its only isolated thundershowers.”
