President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to chair two virtual meetings on Tuesday.

One will be with the President’s Co-ordinating Council (PCC), and the other one with the National Economic Development and Labour Council (Nedlac).

Ramaphosa and his Deputy David Mabuza co-chair the PCC meeting which brings together ministers, premiers and members of the South African Local Government Association.

The meeting is expected to discuss a report from the National Coronavirus Command Council on the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National State of Disaster that the President declared in March due to the pandemic has been extended to October 15.

The country is expected to move to Alert Level one lockdown soon.

The Nedlac meeting will discuss progress towards the finalisation of a national economic recovery plan.

In the latest figures on the country’s economy by Stats SA, it has plunged by 52% in second quarter.

Government, business and labour have been meeting to develop a common approach to rebuilding the economy.
