SABC News Ramaphosa @MYANC edit - Ramaphosa slams N.Cape govt for failing to provide basic services

African National Congress (ANC) president Cyril Ramaphosa has lashed out at the Northern Cape government for failing to provide basic services to the residents of the province.

Ramaphosa, who is in the Northern Cape on a campaign trail, said he was tired of excuses.

This was after Premier Sylvia Lucas blamed the provincial department and a local municipality for not being able to provide houses for residents of the informal settlement in Louisvale, Upington.

“As I listened to the account and the reports from our colleagues, the local government level and provincial government, they have reason to believe that there are understandable excuses that they can put forward and I’ve said very clearly to them, I don’t want to hear excuses anymore.”

“Our people don’t want to hear excuses, just want implementation. If you want to deal with excuses then you really should not be where you are, you should focus on delivering to our people.”

“I am tired of excuses. I just want to hear delivery and implementation.”

‘ANC is in a better state’

Meanwhile, ANC deputy president, David Mabuza, says the party is in a better state than it was before its national elective conference at Nasrec  in December 2017. He was speaking after visiting the residents of Breyten and Elukwatini, in Mpumalanga, as part of an election trail.
