Expectations

The ANC is expected to delve into issues around the party’s Secretary General Ace Magashule, who was on Tuesday issued with a warrant of arrest by the Hawks.

The warrant relates to Magashule’s involvement in his role in awarding a R255-million asbestos tender during his time as Premier of the Free State.

Magashule, who is expected to hand himself over to law enforcement, will appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

The Hawks have since said they will engage with Magashule’s legal team during the course of the week.

The former Premier has told the media that he doesn’t fear the arrest warrant and says he has done nothing wrong.

High profile arrests

Among the accused are other high ranking ANC officials, including ousted Mangaung executive mayor Olly Mlamleli, Free State Human Settlements head Nthimotse Mokhesi; and businessman Edwin Sodi, who is Consulting Director at Blackbeard.

Their case has been postponed to February 2021 following their appearance in court earlier today.
