‘I am not afraid of Jacob Zuma’: Fikile Mbalula lets rip in deleted Tweet

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula has had a very busy morning – and that’s putting it mildly. The ANC Cabinet member has taken some parting shots at ‘the old guard’, before deleting a Tweet that sent a defiant message to Jacob Zuma.

Mbalula is the subject of criticism from the MK Veterans unit. Carl Niehaus has renewed his heated rivalry with Mbaks, calling for the minister’s arrest this weekend. The transport ministry has been criticised for failing to prevent a spate of robberies and vandalism across South Africa’s network of train stations.

“Many workers and many people, especially in the townships, are almost entirely reliant on the railway network and this collapse which we believe has been because of negligence and because of wrong decisions that have been taken.

“Also with regards to security and to making sure that the rail network is protected has been to be put squarely at the door of the Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula.”

However, hardly in the mood to let Niehaus make this call unchallenged, the minister took to Twitter to vent his frustrations. The MKMVA in Gauteng is on a protest march today, where they plan to make their demands for Fikile Mbalula’s arrest – but the social media-loving politician has launched his fightback online. His deleted Tweet read:

“I’m not afraid of them; Jacob Zuma, Carl Niehaus, Kebby Maphatsoe, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, and Ace Magashule. That you must know.”

Guptas blasted by Mbaks

Then he continued to slam the influence of the Gupta family, claiming that they were the biggest ‘abusers’ of Prasa and their state resources. Mbalula also lashed out at the so-called RET (Radical Economic Transformation) faction of the party:

AND as for your biggest friends, the Guptas… Your efforts to bring the ANC down failed – we are 57% in power. Prasa was your milking cow. I have closed the taps.. that is my sin. You used to do as wish with fake security companies.”
