Africa’s resources boom has fuelled the continent’s fastest era of growth since independence. Today natural resources still account for three-quarters of Sub-Sahara’s exports.

Yet with a large share of natural resources are undiscovered or barely harnessed, mining and energy activities will continue to play a large role in the continent’s development. It’s not surprising then that mining and energy companies are investing heavily in Africa.

But with investment comes responsibility. Socially, building broad public acceptance and understanding is constantly important. Especially in communities and countries where environmental issues and societal issues are major and potentially contentious issues.
